Winner of the first annual ABC Brews Crews competition, this dark German Ale was created by home brewers Jake and Chris Pruette, who not only brewed this ale for the first time right before the competition, but placed the entry without even tasting it. Hence, the name “Flying Blind Alt”. This is a medium bodied ale with a roasty character with hints of chocolate making up its rich malty palate which gives way to a smooth dry finish.

draft at brewpub - This beer does not seem to be their popular Olde 22 German Alt. On tap at the Ann Arbor brewpub, Flying Blind Alt is listed as a recipe from the winner of a home brewing contest. It pours dark amber with a thin head. The aroma is very malty with some dark fruit. The malt flavor and dark fruit notes carry on in the flavor. Carbonation is light and the body medium. This beer is very enjoyable.
