tap at the brewpub - Pours deep red with an off white head. It smells of toasted malt and rye. The flavor is sweet, toasted caramel malt and very apparent rye presence. Style wise you could call it an amber or a specialty grain. I went with the latter partly because the rye is such a substantial part of it. This brew is sweet and medium bodied with some mild hops bitterness. Not my favorite thing, but it’s enjoyable. Also, it’s definitely a different beer than the "Irish Red" Mad Anthony released a few years ago, the rye being the most obvious difference.
