Shaker pint draft at the Helmsman Ale House in Newport Beach, California. The pour is an opaque black with a minimal tan head. The aroma is a soft roast char, though pretty faint. The beer was served very full and very cold. The taste is a soft, slightly caramel sweet malt, then the roast char, a touch faint though balances nicely with the sweet of the malt. The palate is light bodied with active carbonation, roast and the sweet finish. Easy drinking.
