750 ml corked and caged bottle purchased at Martin City Pizza and Tap in Kansas City, Missouri. Bot on 06 04 15 printed ont he bottle. The pour is a black dark brown with a darker khaki one inch head. Foam falls with lace. The aroma is soft roast, cherry fruit and a bit of herbal leather yeast towards the back. The taste is the toasted roast malt, the fruit, which is more tropical fruit versus the cherry of the nose, a decent shot of wood then the dry leather earthy funk of the yeast finishes the flavors. Nice integration and transition of flavors. The palate is light to medium bodied with active natural carbonation and a lingering tart, funk almost sour yeast and barrel finish. Some of the roast also lingers. Interesting, creative beer - a lot going on in this one and still easy drinking.
