Approximately 12 oz goblet draft at Martin City Brewing Company Pizza & Tap in Kansas City, Missouri. The pour is dark black brown with not much tan head. The aroma is sharp, and pretty much straight rum. As that opens up, a bit of roast, some soy and vanilla become evident. Yikes, smells like this is going to be another out of balance booze bomb. The taste surprises, it is quite a bit gentler than the nose, and the mix of roast, soy and rum is really smooth and integrated. There is an additional fruit sweetness which also plays well. This really came together nicely, the taste has none of the sharpness of the nose. The palate is heavy to medium bodied with low carbonation and the roast rum with booze warming in the finish. Not normally my sort of beer, but this was nicely done.
