Smooth dark Porter, with a touch of smoked malt. Not overpowered with smoke flavor, more of an accent to the underlying caramel and chocolate notes.

On tap at Shoreline Brewery, Michigan City. Deep opaque brown body, thin beige head. Toasty nose with burnt brown sugar and dark fruit notes. Weird body with a peculiar heavy, oxidized caramel character, a hint of plastic, and scorched grain husks. Heavy on the palate, like a lifeless bock. This beer reminded me I couldn’t actually see the shoreline from the brewery.

12 oz hand bottle shared by tjthresh, courtesy of BBB63 - enjoyed at the csbosox tasting on 3/7/08. Pour is brown - mahogany with only thin white bubbles for a head. Aroma of candy sugar sweetness, caramel and some roastiness. The smokiness is in the nose, though pretty muted. Taste is grainy and sugary; rye almost. Traditional Porter flavors, along with the smoke, emerge in the middle through the finish. Huge thanks to both Mike and Tom!
