Black barleywine, brandy barrel edition.
We took the Fellowship's first ever beer, and aged it in a freshly emptied brandy barrel.

This is boozy, warm and aggressive, with delicious notes of dark chocolate. Did we mention boozy?

Look out for more later in the year...

The brethren provideth. Glossy black. A fleeting glance of tawny brown in the fading light. The beige-grey head is unsuccessful at at maintaining a foothold and soon retreats. Aroma has (end) days of sweet booze, spice, nuts, dark dark doughy. An irreligious Christmas Pud. Now... this is the thing... the barrel aging is not overly intrusive. A bug hit of brandy scatters the other flavour facets. They do regroup to an extent and we have spicy doughy Agnostic End of a Year pud. Underlying espresso bitter streak with a few flakes of charcoal. Heavy bodied..a tongue enveloping oily creamy liquid. Soft carbonation. Long astringent finish. Still want to try the OG brew but this works rather well.

Bottle at home. Pours black, nose is treacle, caramel, vanilla, blackcurrant, taste is similar, chewy, strong brandy in the finish.
