Dark roasty taste with a bit of a kick in the aftertaste. Definitely more stout than porter

Cask @ Square Chapel, Halifax. Very dark mahogany-brown with a smooth texture and a slightly off-white creamy head. Malty in aroma and taste, although not as dark malty as you might expect from its colour, however there's a robustness about it. Has a hint of roasted in its nose, but perhaps somewhat watery in taste.

Cask (gravity) at Smithfield, Derby. Pours a dark reddish-brown with minimal off-white head. Aroma has molasses and roasted malts. Plenty of flavours in the mouth, olde English spangles, humbugs, treacle and liquorice for starters. Later the underlying roasted malts come through as well. Finish is slightly bitter. This is a very nice porter.

Lovely porter. Black with a thick creamy head. It's got a decent punch to it for 4.5%. Chocolate, toasty malt, maybe some oats and a really good, smooth, body. Very, very drinkable.
