Cask at Smithfield, Derby. Pours a dark chestnut with minimal off-white head. The aroma is mainly malts and nuts but with some hints of autumn fruits. In the mouth it is initially slightly sweet, but bitterness soon sweeps in and continues to increase. Flavour has traditional hops and nuts plus traces of ginger, almonds and apples. Later on maple comes through as well, leading to a bitter and slightly dry finish. This is decent – not sure about it being an altbier though.

Keighley & Worth Valley Railway Beer Festival 2023. Clear amber-red with an associated bitter-hoppy taste including some red-berry flavours.
