What You’ll Love About It
We were introduced to two new hops recently, similar yet different at once. Both promised a lack of harsh bitterness, and flavours and aromas best identified as tropical fruit and daiquiris. The aromas in the brewery on dry hopping day were incredible, and we think you'll find if you allow this beer time to gently warm in the sun it will continue to offer island rhythms until the bottom of the glass.
How It's Made
Two row malted barley, oats, and wheat create the sandy backdrop on which we drop these magical hops, with a dry hop that's almost IPA-like in its size. It adds a few cents to the can price, but we think it's well worth it.
Why Is It Called Tortuga?
After the western coast of the Cayman Islands, where one might be at home in the sand with a brightly coloured drink boasting an umbrella inside. Thanks to the prominent island vacation aromas of the hops in this IPA, this was right where our mind took us.
How To Enjoy It
Start with it cold from the fridge, but allow it time to gently warm. What starts as rum and kiwis will make way to peach daiquiris and more.
Did You Know?
This beer started as an IPA in our taproom-exclusive Reservoir Series, but we quickly knew we were on to something and began the process of re-imaging it as the type of beer you could drink all day on the beach.

This pale ale poured a cloudy, medium yellow colour with a big, beautiful white head. Nice lacing. Scents include citrus, grass, cooked veggies and cream. First swig was quite fizzy. Flavours of lemon rind, grass, orange citrus and dough. Finish is hoppy but not crazy bitter with citrus grassy hops lingering.

Cloudy yellow, light tropical notes, soft citrus, easy drinking, light and bright. Refreshing.

Flight at brewery. Pours clear pale yellow with white head. Aroma is dank with some crisp malts. Flavour is dank and grassy with plenty of grainy malts. Very solid pale ale.
