Bomber from Etre Gourmet shared with Jan. One of the special editions of this famed stout (named after the Soviet marshal from W.W. II) - second in fame only to Hunahpu’s I guess when it comes to CCB - this one with vanilla and hazelnut flavoring. Initially thin and loose head taking some light forcing to form, but then settling into a moussy, lightly lacing, deep almost reddish-tinged beige foam, quickly breaking in the middle and reduced to a thin tan rim in the end, over a jet black beer with burgundy edge, only visible about one millimeter ’deep’ and under bright light. Very powerful, seductive, rich bouquet of hot chocolate, hazelnut oil, roasted chestnuts, candied dates, cappuccino, tiramisu, vanilla beans, ’blood’ iron, mocha ice cream, bayleaf, stewed plums, ’speculoos’ dipped in coffee, toasted bread, whipped cream, raisins. Equally intense flavour, kicking off with a ’pointy’ candied sweetness (fig, candied banana, yellow raisin) supported by an undercurrent of roasted barley sourishness which will guide the palate to the very end, in a softly carbonated, viscous, oily, ’fat’ environment; the mouth cavity is swiftly coated with toffeeish, nutty, very chocolatey malt bittersweetness, a bit more sweet than bitter but absolutely delicious, with subtle coffee roastedness in the end matching perfectly with the hazelnut (or rather: hazelnut paste) flavour. Vanilla, in a natural way, strongly manifests itself retronasally, before a spicy hop bitterness kicks in to accentuate the roasted barley bitterness. Warming, calvados-like alcohol wraps things up in the very end, nowhere wry or tiring though and gently accompanying the lush chocolate and hazelnut paste flavours downwards; a notable ripe blue plum-like accent shows up all the way at the back. This is complex, creamy, highly aromatic and ’decadently’ delicious, I never had the regular version but in this form, another CCB masterpiece of international importance without a doubt. The very last drop still scented of hazelnut, vanilla and chocolate - heck, even the splash of water I used to rinse the glass, had a brownish tinge and still that persisting vanilla aroma to it. I’m a sucker for vanilla especially in this natural form and knowing CCB’s quality standard, there was little chance that this would go wrong, but it turns out even far more delicious than I expected. Absolutely beautiful, I wish I could have one of these every day... I cannot find anything wrong with it, so I cannot but grant it a very high score. I need to find more variations on this Marshall Zhukov theme!

Bottle @ Kihoskh. Pours Black with a creamy lasting beige head. Roasted nose and flavor. Thankfully little vanilla hazel a la the trending times. Just smooth roast, slight soy, Dark fruit and mollasses. Smooth and softer than a motherfucker. Yes!!!

Massive thanks. Black with thin and short lasting brown tan head. Abyss deep roasted chocolate malts. Molasses, hazlenut, dry vanilla. Bit sweeter and softer. Big sweet and moderate bitter. Full body and low carbonation. Massive stuff.

Bottle shared. Pitch black pour with a nice espresso head with poor retention. Notes of dark chocolate, licorice, roasted malts, vanilla, cherries.
