(473mL can from LCBO) Poured cool, a slightly hazy medium gold with a rocky white head that faded quickly. Aroma citrus-dominated, some grapefruit in particular, faint malt. Flavour again hoppy, a little malty sweetness at first but strongly grapefruit pith, citrus, quenching and a little acidic. Moderate bitterness coming in, finishes tinny and dry. Body fairly lightweight, high soda-pop carbonation, Not too complex but a very refreshing summer pale ale.

Sample from can at the Strange Brew Tasting on 02/18/2012. Clear orange pour with a medium white head that diminishes steadily. Short stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of floral hops and malt. Light body with a mildly bitter citrus hops character with some floral and malty notes behind it. The finish is short and lightly hoppy. Slightly above average overall.

Okay gold body with decent carbonation and head. Plenty of heavy hops on the nose, clouding out all else. Flavour is overbearing hops to the extreme with just a hint of grains. That’s not a bad thing however. This is very good for a pale ale, reminds me of a better homebrew instead of a badly executed macrobrew.

@Victors Fantasy Tasting-16oz can-pours a white head with trailing lace and gold color. Aroma is pine/citrus, secondary light/medium malt. Taste is biting pine/citrus hops, secondary light/medium malt. Drying finish.

Can at Victor’s tasting at Paul’s. Pours gold. White head. Nose/taste of hops, pine and pale malt. Clean and crisp. Medium body. Dry finish.

Another bomber from Great Lakes Brewing, and a Canadian tribute for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. Pours a rich golden colour with an off-white head that is fluffy, with decent retention and dry bubbly lacing. Great grain malt scent (I recognize the same malt found in Steam Whistle and some other pils) at first, and then, the hop appears. An awesome pairing of both. Silky smooth mouthfeel with a little stick in the end. Wicked bitterness the whole way which rules my mouth. Nice grain aftertaste with the hop always present. I really enjoy this brew and will buy some more for the Olympics. A superb pale ale. Great Lakes seems to be impressing more and more, every time they release a new offering.

Bottle: Poured a medium copper color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of floral and lightly bitter hops is interesting. Taste is also dominated by some notes of floral and bitter hops with traces of pines and a decent caramel malt backbone. Body is about average with good carbonation. Missing some hops but still very drinkable.

A golden pale ale with a thick white head. In aroma, good hops, overlyed with decent floral hops, intense butterscotch and strawberry notes. In mouth, a good malt base with bitter English hops, quite nice, medium bodied. Tasted Feb. 13, 2010.
