Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford. Pours a golden amber with a small off-white head and good lacing. Nose has malts, honey and marmalade – in that order. In the mouth the alcoholic strength is the first thing to grab the attention. Flavours of ginger and marmalade are pretty much instant too, whilst hints of toffee and spices take longer to show up. Finish is dry with alcoholic strength. Nice and dangerously drinkable. Not a red ale by any means , though I’m not sure how I would categorise it.
