Cask at the Fox & Hounds, Caversham.. Not at all what I was expecting from a beer described as a Black IPA, particularly if squid ink is actually involved in the recipe! As it was a hazy amber pour with a dense cream head; completely lacking the intensity and depth of colour I was expecting. The aroma was muted and fruity, and the taste was immediately filled with sharp bitter resinous hops, with an underlying smooth caramel body. Well balanced overall, but rather one-dimensional as the hops dominate.
