In the late 2000’s we created a beer to celebrate all the best of summer - baseball, beach days, and barbecues. Today, that beer has grown into the most iconic seasonal beer ever and the official craft beer of summer - Summer Love. Summer Love is a refreshing Golden Ale that delivers big flavor through its fine balance of clean pilsner malts and citrusy, earthy Simcoe and Tettnang hops.

Bottle @ home. Clear golden appearance with a fluffy, pearl white head. Slightly skunky, grassy hoppy, straw aroma. Somewhat bitter, skunky, pale malty, husky, hay, straw flavor. I’m really not enjoying this.

bottle at flying saucer. Pours a clear yellow gold with small frothy white head that leaves spotty lacing. The aroma is bready malt and wet dog. Thin moutfeel with a light wheat flavor and citrus. Crisp finish, a good blond from Victory.

Shaker pint draft at the Gingerman in New York City. Pour is a slight haze yellow golden with a smallish off white head. Aroma is grassy, even catty hops, along with a hint of pine and a bright cracker malt. The flavor revereses this a bit with the malt coming forward, its fresh and crackery crisp. The hops are present, showing the grassy and catty elements of the nose. Palate is light to medium bodied, nice carbonation level and a clean mineral finish. Overall, a bright clean beer.

Bottle: Poured a clear bright golden color ale with a nice pure white foamy head with good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma consists of light sweet cereal with light floral undertones. Taste is also dominated by light floral notes with some refreshing cereal with a subtle hoppy finish. There were some light unrefined grain notes that were also perceptible as the beer warmed up which I wasn’t too fond of. Body is about average with good carbonation. Good but not as great as I was expecting based on previous ratings.

Draft. Poured a clear golden color with a medium sized white head. Aroma was citrus, bubblegum yeast notes. Flavor was citrus, wheat, crisp hops, clean malt notes, touch of bubblegum. Enjoyable, fantastic, clean and enjoyable for the last summer weather.

This summer has been stupid hot here in Philly. My go to has been PBC’s Kenzinger but I recently had a few pints of this and it just might force a rotation between the two. Bright fruits, light, crisp hops, and light grain. Finish has a nice bitter bite but not harsh. I wish the abv was a bit lower so I could do a few more in a row. Super refreshing and quite tasty.

Bottle. Light golden body with a fizzy, off-white head. Hop aroma of flowers, grapefruit and citrus. Notes of toaste grain, caramel. The flavor is lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture and lively carbonation. Floral taste with some raw grain behind it. Hint of lemon and grass. Straightforward.

pretty good for a blonde, most are a waste of time in my book, but this was like a pale ale’s little brother, nice.

Bottle - clear light gold - lively pour - nose is grassy hops, citrus zest, light mint/herbs, some mineral character - flavor is like golden ale meets pils - clean, lean maltiness provides light sweetness and crackery character, but mostly gets out of the way of the crisp, herbal bite of th German hops - light wildflower and citrus in the finish - lingering peppery hops - think Prima Pils in golden ale form - a really great summer brew.

Bottle. Powdery floral and light grapefruit peel aroma. Golden yellow color with large head. Sweet light malt and moderately bitter grapefruit/pine hops flavor. Palate on the light side. Okay - light on the malt but strong hops presence.
