Aged Imperial Spiced Ale. We saved a bit of the 2012 batch and aged half in Oak. RailSlide Imperial Spiced Ale is based on a traditional English Strong Ale and brewed with Winter flavors, including fresh ginger, cinnamon and licorice that add an edge to this smooth spiced ale. On tap at the brewpub. It pours with a murky dark brown body that supports a tan head. The aroma offers up smooth sweetened muted spiced red apple and cinnamon and then a touch of molasses like sweetness. The taste begins with smooth ripe red apple sweetness as well as blunted and integrated cinnamon and ginger. To midway a dash of vanilla joins in the mix heading into the finish. This is a nice smooth sipper and is an improvement over a fresh version not aged on wood.
