Dark and slightly reddish. Medium head. Has some oaky dark cherry notes. Has a sharp acidity, cherry sweetness, lots of oak, touch of balsamic. It’s weird, all the elements you want in this kind of beer but they’re not coming together all that well. Can’t put my finger on what the specific issue is, but it’s just not as cohesive as it could be.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a dark, cloudy, brown color, with a big, bubbly, tan head. The nose is caramel, black cherries, molasses, and cocoa powder. Mellow sour flavor, and fairly dry. Medium body, with a chalky, thick mouthfeel. This is a solid, interesting, and approachable sour. Not fantastic, though. It’s too malty and chewy, which washes out the tart cherries notes.
