Superbly balanced, this authentic version of a German Export-style lager satisfies gloriously. Full, German malts and fine European hops offer subtle harmony. Patient brewing practices and careful aging make it smooth and satisfying.

From old tasting notes. Labeled as "Victory Brandywine Valley Lager". Bright yellow gold color topped by a bubbly beige head. Fragrant caramel malt nose. Tangy, fruity malt flavor hints at pink grapefruit and mango. Nice spicy hop finish balances this ale nicely.

Notes from 2004. +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a golden color with a trace white head that faded and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was fairly strong basic lager with a hint of ripe fruits. The flavor was fruity and malty with a effervescent quality. Short finish. Medium body. Solid.

Pale yellow color with a thin white head. Sweet grain aroma and a similar flavor.

Light copper; herbal, grassy, mossy hop nose with biscuity malts. A little fizzy for the style, grainy, with a soft grassy note. The aroma is good dortmunder, but the palate comes up short.

Original Export style: Virtually indistinguishable from any native Dortmunder style lager. A superb accomplishment from the guys at Victory. Very well balanced - creating a complexity that keeps the beer interesting til the last sip. Plenty of body.

I just tried their festbeir, and this is very similar, thought a bit better. This is a mighty fine lager. A great balance of light maltiness, sweetness, hops, as wiseguy pointed out. If this were not a Victory beer, I would probably rate it higher, but I hold them to a higher standard. This is a good beer for its style, but Victory makes much better.
