Consider all the wonderful characters that have graced the insides of this house with their presence through times of former glory; in the 80s and 90s as the lively Malt & Hops, and even back to the 1890s as the majestic Pinecliff Hotel. It is only fitting that we name our wonderful house bitter, also bursting full of character, in their honour.

9/3/2023. Cask at Brewhouse & Kitchen, Southbourne. Pours clear dark amber with a small frothy off-white head. Aroma is malty, caramel, lightly roasted, nut, fruit, touch of spice. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness. Moderate body, slightly watery, soft carbonation. Nice bitterness, and quite enjoyable.

Cask @ the brewpub. Nice head with good duration. Color is brown. Aroma and taste are nuts, caramel, fruits, malt and hops. Slightly watery.

Cask, third, shared with Finn at Brewhouse & Kitchen. Clear amber body, bubbles on the surface, scattered lacing. Moderate brown malty aromas. Taste of nuts, bread and vague moments of fruit. Lightly roasted bitter end. Fair enough. (Southbourne 22.10.2019).

Cask at the brewpub. Near clear brown with a small off white head. Aroma of malt, overripe dark fruit, toffee and nutty notes. Flavour is light to moderate sweet and bitter. Light to light medium bodied with very soft carbonation.
