The bottle looks really, really good. Beer in the glass deep black, oily, nice head. Roasty malty aroma. Starts very strong, but not very alcoholic. Heavy-malty, earthy, roasty. Hints of liquorice and bitter chocolate. Finish milder, soft-malty, warming. The alcohol is well hidden. Great beer!

Sample from 2009 bottle. This brew pours black with a thing beige head that diminishes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. The aroma is vinous with oak and vanilla notes. Rich body with flavors of oak, roasted malt and dark fruits. Touches of dark chocolate as well. The finish is malty with a dark fruity aftertaste. Above average overall.

Bottle, 75cl. A more or less flat one, dark brown in color and quite clear. The aroma has a touch of bourbon, is quite roasted and coffee-ish, with vanilla and a touch of tarmac. Quite alcoholic on the palate, roasted and vanillaish flavor with coffee and tarmac. Full-bodied, warming and flat. Long roasted and boozy finish. Not a favorite of mine, goes in too many directions. 131122
