Our interpretation of the original black lagers of Bavaria. Also known as “black pils,” this light and crisp schwarzbier is balanced by a complex blend of dark and roasted malts, accentuated with subtle notes of floral and spicy noble hops.

Can to becher pint glass.
Appearance: dark brown close to black color with a two finger off-white foamy head which slowly dissipated to leave some light lace
Aroma: smoky/ashy/char roastiness, sweet smoke, some woodiness, some meat
Flavor: sweet, roasty and smoky, nice aftertaste with some smoke, wood and meat
Texture: light to medium bodied, some smoothness, between sessionable and being a sipper, dry and smoky and meaty finish
Overall: I'd say a very nicely done dark lager very worthy of returning to.

Best by May 18th 2025.
Pours dark brown with reddish highlights, over a finger of off white foam.
Smell is some roasted malt, light grain, some aromas of hop and chocolate bitterness.
The taste is roasty, dark chocolate, not much sweetness, hoppy bitterness with some infused by the chocolate.
Medium bodied, good carbonation.
Excellent Black Lager!

Can. Roasted malt aroma with notes of chocolate, coffee, floral and spicy hops. Pours black with a finger of light brown head that has excellent retention and lacing. Starts with rich roasted malt, chocolate and spicy hop flavors. Finishes smooth and a bit dry with coffee and floral hop flavors. Excellent black beer.

Can best before 5/19/25, drunk 2/11/25.
Dark, bordering black. Clear. Large, light-tan head, good retention.
Ashy-roast, not too heavy, mixes with chocolate and a bit of light soy. Mild herbal hop on the very end and light mineral, as well. Clean.
In the mouth it's a bit given to the roast and ash with some dry, toasty notes towards the finish and a fairly light body. So that sounds kind of problematic, but it didn't bother me and this is a Schwarz, not a dunkel, so there should be some robust roast and stronger dark malt characteristics. Didn't seem like it was anything out of the ordinary for the style, to me. Body is light, but the texture isn't thin. Almost creamy, though slightly watery from the forced carbonation. Again, very clean and drinkable, with proper attenuation.

Can. Aroma is caramel, cocoa and roast. Taste is caramel and chocolate, mild coffee bitterness. Lighter body with some crisp texture. Finish matches the taste. Pretty nice. Wish there was more of this style available in the US. Enjoy it.

Pours mahogany-tinged cola into a Sam glass. Mocha head with good retention pancakes as it recedes leaving trailing spots. Licorice and dark molasses aromas. Crisp with sweet pumpernickel and raisin brown bread upfront turning to chalky, burnt toast and espresso in the dry, lasting finish.

Pour is a black with a large mocha tan head. Aroma is an ok roasted malt and bitter bakers chocolate. Flavor is a decent roasted malt and hop combo. Very floral hop is left on the tongue. Ok schwartzbier. A little more roasted malt would help things out here.
