From Harry’s. Beautiful aroma that really fell off on the flavor. Became rather roasty and ashy.

Sample at the brewpub. The beer is a dark brown color with a medium foamy beige head that diminishes steadily to a film. Strings of lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of roast malt, hops and pine. Medium body with flavors of roasted malt, resiny hops and a hint of tropical fruit. The finish is malty up front with a piney hops aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Enjoyed at gabf 2014. It pours with a nice looking dark body that supports a small bubbled light colored mocha head. The aroma offers up sweet malts, a light black licorice spicy note, earthy tea and slivers of dark roasted malts. The taste starts smooth with malts and then it quickly gets into a mix of dark roasted malts, some black licorice that have that Mt. Hood hop thing going on and then a pleasing degree of earthy tea. The earthy tea, little bit of licorice and dark roasted malts really go well together here.

Draft at the brewpub. Nose is rye, citrus with hints of pine, tropical fruit, and coffee.. Very dark brown with a medium beige head that laces heavily. Flavor is lightly bitter with background notes of coffee.
