Kibble nose, mild horse blanket, caraway, chemical. Clear brown, thin tan head. Molasses, pecan, brown bread, nail polish. Medium body, moderate carbonation. Complex, but rudderless. Not one of my favorite doppelbocks.

Well priced six pack from local grocer had to jump. Ruby dirty amber pour minimal head. Nose is dried fruits and faint caramel. Tastes of dates, prunes, caramel, earth, wood, plum and cherry. Medium bodied. Kinda slick.

Can from Beer Hop. It pours mahogany brown with a decent yellow - beige head. The aroma is sappy, sandalwood, varnish, dried fruits, plum, prune, banana bread, raisin loaf, toffee, touch of spice and leather. The taste is intially dry, bitter - sweet, chewy, toothy, toasty, earthy, prune, date, raisin, sultana, toffee, banana bread, varnished wood, spice, touch of alcohol warmth with a dry, bitter spicy longer on the finish. Medium+ body and moderate carbonation. Nice American take on the style. Good hoppy bitterness to it.

Can from House Of Trembling Madness. Hazy ruby body with a thin off-white head. No visible carbonation. No lacing. Aroma of plum, caramel and prunes. Flavour of toffee and caramel. Medium body with a slick texture. Soft fizz. Lacks the depth of my favourite Doppelbocks (one of my favourite beer styles) but overall it’s good.
