An Howl reserve IPA is a strong golden ale, brewed with a slow fermenting yeast and a carefully selected range of hops to give this beer it’s unique taste. Cascade, Motueka and First Gold hops are used to give this beer a fantastic tropical fruit and citrus hop flavour that lingers. ABV: 7.0%

I was very kindly sent this by the brewery, thankyou! Drinking this sat outside ’Frank’ (camper) at Camping Blaamarsen, Gent, Belgium 19.06.13 Pours clear gold with light bubbling a very small head didn’t last too long, good looking beer which would have been almost perfect if it had of retained its head. Sweet to start but leading to a good fruitiness and a subtle but lasting furry bitterness. Thick in the mouth however the strength is very well downplayed and integrated well into the beer. The bitterness grows and continues to linger the more you get through this, the sweetness moves onto a more interesting dry and decent hoppiness. There is a light fruity and toffee edge and even a slight metallic feel though these are not to the detriment of this beer which overall is a very good IPA. I suppose I might wish for a little more upfront hoppiness perhaps with the aroma being just a little more punchy, but otherwise good stuff. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov15 3.6

Bottle from the brewery. Clear golden beer with thin white head. Some hops on aroma. Mouthfeel is pretty good, the alcohol doesn’t come through til the end. Yes a decent, drinkable IPA, with some decent tropical fruit flavours, mango and grapefruit. Flavour and finish are better than the aroma. Some bitterness which is quite subtle. Good tropical lasting finish. Yes, very drinkable.

330ml bottle received from the brewery, thanks!
BBE 04/2014 - Pours clear golden with a bubbly white head. Aroma of grassy hops, hints of floral notes, citrus and sweet vinous berries. Taste is grassy, malty and grainy with hints of floral notes, parfumy fruits and some juiciness. Finish is smooth caramely, warming and sweetish with notes of bitter grassy hops and citrus. Alcohol burns through a bit too much. Okay, quite easy going and certainly English style IPA that almost feels like an ESB with extra hops.
