Our new Pecan Pie Porter no longer uses extract, but rather brown sugar and pecans roasted by friends at The Gallows in Boston. Buddy Hadry, a rep at Bella Vista in PA, gave me the name for this beer, the second Pecan beer now that he has named. Thank you, Buddy!

Bottle thanks to trade! Pours near black with a grayish brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has dark grains with some sweet chocolate and a hint of pecan. Flavor has more roasted malts with some sweet dark grains and a bit of pecan.

Bottled@vPBFIII. More or less pitch black colour, small off-white head. Aroma is nuts, some alcohol, a bit sugary along with some raisins and ripe fruits. Flavour is raisins, sweet ripe fruits, alcohol, nuts and some strange kind of sweetness.

Bottle from Andover Liquors, dark brown black tan head. Sweet brown sugary nutty aroma and flavor. Nice beer, although the flavor is a bit subtle, I was expecting something along the lines of Southern Tier Creme Brulee.

Bottle at Yespr’s. It pours darkest brown/near black with a small tan head. The nose is roasty, toast, nut, caramel, earth, treacle, faint liquorice and a lick of smoke. The taste is light roast, toast, earth, pecan, caramel, pecan pie, earth and a touch of must. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Well balanced and rather drinkable.

Bottle @ yespr. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty nutty pecan aroma with hints of chocolate. Roasted malty sweetish nutty pecan flavor. Has a roasted malty sweetish nutty pecan and chocolate finish.

Sample from 650 ml. bottle. Pitch black with a bubbly, tanned head. Sweet, roasted aroma with bread, caramel, dark malts, nuts, chocolate and coffee. Taste is sweet. Medium body with a creamy texture. Finishes dry and roasted. Lovely Porter.
