Poured up on tap at the brewpub where it exhibits a nice dark looking body that supports a lasting tan head of foam. The aroma offers up dark roasted malts, a bit of burnt malts and then herbal hoppy spiciness, an earthy berry sort of note and more dark roasted malts to dark roasted coffee into the end of the draw. The taste delivers pleasing levels of dark roasted to burnt malts and a hint of earthy wet tobacco. To midway it picks up a mild earthy berry sensation that is woven around an earthy spicy hoppiness that has a slight anise like edge to it. This is tasting pretty dange solid. A rich rewarding brew and weighing in at only 5.9% abv.
