Poured up on tap at the brewpub where it exhibits a clear deep gold body that supports a light tan head of foam that leaves behind some spotty lacing. The aroma offers up Belgium like yeasty spices, some winter spices and candi sugar. The taste delivers moderately spicy coriander and clove leading into some bitter spicy to thin herbally earthy hops. It picks up spice influenced candi sugar midway along with a sense of bitter floral hops. Pretty nice. The saaz has rolled off a tad already allowing the candi sugar and Belgium yeast to come forward. The fresher Friar Saaz yielded a bit better taste as the Saaz hops were getting it done.
