An American session beer. Loaded with hop character and a malty presence, but lower in alcohol.

Can: Orange peel, overripe aroma. Clear orange, thin cream colored head, nice lacing. Dry and thin. Orange peel and lemon grass. Really quite uninspired.

Sample at Ale Wine & Spirits on 05/13/2011: The beer is an amber-orange color with a thin and foamy off-white head that recedes steadily. Partial rings of lacing. Aroma of citrus and hops. Medium body with a moderately bitter hops character that has citrus and herbal notes, along with malty undertones. The finish is mildly hoppy and short. Decent overall.

Pours clear amber into a Sam glass. Bright white head with good retention recedes to skim surface leaving no lacing. Bitter resin and caramel aromas. Crisp with sweet cookie upfront turning to thin bitter pine in the lasting hop finish.

From a can this stuff looks darker than pale lager. Smell is a little heavy with a tad of sour citrus lemon olfactory. Tastes like so much more than 4.4 to me. Strong hops approaching IPA territory. Citrus notes of pine. Some creamy CO2, but below average. Yeah, shpould be rated as an IPA, the alky content must be wrong on this site. Finish is lingering hop bitters, yes it is, like many IPA or heavy APA. Would make your taste buds go numb if this is used as a session, heheh. Oh, now I see why it rates so high, this is a site full of IPA lovers and even tho this is way out of style, the big hops makes the IPA lovers go nuts on it.

Pours a transparent darkened amber, approximately tangelo, with a puffy white head that dissipates a bit quickly. Aroma is bright citrus hops with some lightly sweet caramel malt. A bit floral. Taste seems a tad off. The hop notes seem kinda soapy and mostly just provide bland bitterness with a touch of citrus. The malt flavor isnβt bad but kinda uninspired and largely hidden by the hoppiness. Mouthfeel starts sudsy but grows watery. Unfortunately, it doesnβt really drink bigger than its abv, which is my standard measure for lower abv beers. This just tastes like a weak APA, though not a bad one.

Location: 12 oz can from Whole Foods Bowery Beer Room, 3/3/11
Aroma: The nose has lots of fruity notes (peach, grapefruit, and mango) as well as floral notes
Appearance: A fairly clear orange pour with about a half finger of white head and some spotty lace
Flavor: The flavor is mildly sweet, light fruity flavors, caramel, toast, and a crisp hop finish
Palate: The body is light-medium, with a nice drinkability, rather crisp and clean, average carbonation
Overall Impression: This is a really solid beer, it is pretty much in line with what I personally look for in a session beer. It has a nice crisp mouthfeel, and solid hop profile, but the nose is clearly the standout in this one. I could see picking this up by the 6 pack. It just works pretty well for what it is trying to be. Very solid stuff. Also, it has a pretty cool can, if that's your thing...

Tin. This was an unusual American pale. It had a full citrusy aroma, and poured orange with a thick white head like an IPA. Taste started with citrusy hop, then went to a subdued malt like many APAs. Balanced sweet and bitter finish

Poured a golden color with a medium sized white head. Aroma and flavor was a lot more hoppy than I expected. This one blew my mind. Along with Stone Levitation Ale, this is one of the best session beers out there and can only help fix their reputation of being considered second-rate.
