Bottled. A black beer with a tan head. The aroma has notes of smoke, malt, and wood. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, wood, and cayenne pepper, leading to a bitter finish.

50ml poured from bottle. Fawn-coloured head, dotted spots to the glass, deep, jet black body. Dark malty nose, hints of bread and wood. Roasted dark malty taste including coffee, smoke, and hints of dark fruits. Cognac far beneath. Chocolate creamy in the mouth. It all works well together. Very nice (Ølfestival København, 23.05.2013).

Sample from bottle at Copenhagen Beer Festival 2013. Black colour, moderate beige head. Pleasant aroma of cognac barrel, vanilla, roasted malts, coffee, chocolate and liquorice. The mouthfeel is a bit thin for an 8% beer. Medium roasty and medium dry flavour with coffee notes, the cognac barrel is there, but does not dominate. Not bad, but I hoped for something even better.
