For our third anniversary brew we decided to give our core range milk stout the deluxe treatment! We've ramped up the ABV to 7.6% and stripped back the adjuncts, producing a super smooth and luxuriously sweet version of our fan favourite with notes of chocolate and coffee adding to the decadence.

Keg at the Pentrich Tap Takeover, Blue Boar, Leicester. Dark brown, opaque with a thin even layer of beige head. Mocha and salt liquorice on the aroma. Sweet, sweet taste with liquorice to the fore. Some bittersweet chocolate, bourbon biscuit, Vegemite. Soft carbonation. Decent enough but I expected more from the ABV.

Tap at Suds and Soda, Derby Nose has chocolate and grainy malts. Pours a murky black with a beige head. When served initially very cold, the mouth feel was dominated by lactose, but as it warmed up liquorice and raisins came through and obscured the lactose. Finish dominated by an alcoholic warmth. Much nicer when warmed up !

Keg at The Rake, Borough Market. Black pour with a tan head. Liquorice, coffee and chocolate raisin nose. Flavours of liquorice toffee, dark roast coffee, smoke and raisin. Very good.
