Pours almost black with a light beige head. Citric and piney aroma. Taste is roasted malt, dark chocolate, citrus, pine. Yum.

10 oz stemless wine glass draft at Cerebral Brewing in Denver, Colorado. The pour is black, opaque, with a well formed tan head. The aroma is cocoa, pine, resin, and general bitterness. The taste is a nice blend of soft roast, toasted malt, and then a nice blast of pine resin, a touch of slightly sweet cocoa near the back and finishes dry with bitterness. The palate is medium bodied, warming, and the dry softly bitter finish. Nice Black IPA, this is how I like the style.

16 oz. can. Pours black, with a big, foamy, tan head. The aroma is resin, cocoa, orange peel, pine, and coriander. Sweet and malty, with a nice, smooth bitterness. Medium to heavy body, syrupy, and a bit chalky. Pretty solid, balanced, and fun.

Poured up on tap at Tipsy Cactus where it exhibits a mahogany to chocolate colored body that supports a nice tan head. The aroma offers up dark roasted malts, chocolate, a dash of fruity hoppiness and then a faint tobacco note. The taste delivers smooth even malt roastiness nuanced by chocolate, thin dark roasted malts and earthy tobacco. Modest spicy to citrus to a bit of pine like hops bitterness. This thing drinks mighty nice.

10 ounce at the brewery - dark brown with a tan lace - nose of roast and earthy hops - a lot of fresh green hoppiness in the flavor that works surprisingly well with the chocolate and roastiness of the malt character - I quite like it.
