The aroma offers up date and plum like dark fruity esters wrapped thinly by a bit of molasses and kettle caramelization flowing into a mild booze sensation. The taste delivers smooth and slick and full palate sweet malty and sweet estery barleywine goodness. Slick malts give way to date to plum to lightly fig sweet dark fruity esters. To midway a pleasing blend of reduced sugars, like molasses and caramel, provide another layer of depth to this sipper. Into the finish this big beer's ABV is pretty well restrained. This is a solid English barleywine offering that's well crafted with integrated flavors and it doesn't try to do too much. I dig it.
