Breaking bud was the beer from Knee Deep that wowed me so I decided to give the double IPA version ago. Knee Deep Double Breaking Bud 9% Beautiful orange gold with dense creamy looking white foam and a rich sweet malt and citrus classic IPA aroma. Full bodied and super smooth. The taste starts of modern IPA, sweet citrus, tropical notes but the gives you dank resinous weed notes in the finish. Ultra crisp light finish, barely any heat. This drinks like 7%, dangerously crushable.

Pint can canned 7 weeks ago pours with a clear deep gold to copper colored body that supports a thin off white head of foam. The aroma offers up sweet smelling malts that tip toe up to the buttery diacetyl. I also get snippets of vague hoppiness. The taste delivers an all too sweet and malty disappointing mess. This is likely a malt bomb without buttery diacetyl, but it almost seems that way. There are modest vague bitter hops here and there. The hops are related to muddling under a malty thumb of sweetness. This is a mess. What happened?
