Rich coffee flavours and a smooth body are combined with a dark chocolate aroma in this well crafted offering. Challenger hops provide a delicate hop flavour and add body to the beer.

Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 2/5/2012. Near black with a decent, off-white head. Plain chocolate with a touch of dark fruit sweetness, leading to a gently bitter finish. Good.

Cask at the Hope, Carshalton. It pours very, very dark brown, with a thick beige head. The nose is roasted malt, charcoal, smoke and a hint of sulphur. The taste is roasted malt, charcoal, smoke, leather, coffee and liquorice, with a long dry-roasted finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Good balance. A solid mild.
