Gravity dispense at the Royston, Broadstairs, 20/07/24. Dark mahogany brown with a reddish topped with a beige cap that veers edgewards. Nose is cocoa powder, dried fruit rinds, toffee, nutty. Taste comprises fruit slice, toasted brown sugar, brown bread, malt forward, chocolate dusting. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, light drying close. Tidy porter.

12/7/2024. Cask at the 33rd Ealing Beer Festival. Pours dark mahogany brown with a frothy off-white to beige head. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, liquorice, dark fruits, toffee, slightly smoked. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness and body. Soft carbonation. Quite enjoyable.

Cask at BeerHeadz Nottingham. Deep cola colour with an off white head. Aroma and taste are malty slight chocolate and light sweet. Medium body.

Cask (gravity) @ The 18th Reading Beer and Cider Festival 2012, Reading, Berkshire England. [ As Southdowns Devils Dyke Porter ].Clear dark red brown colour with a small to average, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, sweet roasted. Flavor is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average to long duration, roasted, malty, sweet roasted. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20120504]

Cask at Pigs Ear BF 2012, London. Pours clear, rich brown with a moderate, beige foam head. Dark, toasty bread nose. Medium sweet flavor with surprisingly strong coffee character, light earthy bitterness. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Moderately toasty finish with more coffee and toasted sugars. Good stuff.

Cask @ 13th Egham Beer Festival. Pours a dark ruby black color with a small tan head. Has a fruity roasted malty spicy aroma. Roasted malty spicy chocolate flavor. Has a roasted malty spicy caramel chocolate finish.

From cask at Egham 13. Pours pitch black with a small tan head. Aroma is toasted malty and light breadish, green apples too. Bitter, chocolate and light breadish. Light bitter and chocolate malty into the finish.

Cask at Egham United Services Club Summer Beer Festival 2012. A black coloured pour with a decent beige head on top. Smokey, malty, caramel aroma. Tastes similar smokey, malty, chocolate, caramel, sweet. Decent rich tasting porter.
