12 oz. can from Total Wine - San Antonio, TX. Pours a crystal clear very dark mahogany-brown color with a very small khaki head and fair retention. Very little lacing. Dark brown sugar, molasses, and booze aroma. The flavor is more subtle than I expected, but follows the aroma. Sweet brown sugar and molasses flavors with a boozy finish. The flavors are fine, and the 8.8% ABV is fairly well hidden, but the overall mix is kind of dull. Needs more carbonation. Medium body. Low, almost flat carbonation. Not bitter.

I always thought bocks in general could benefit from a bump in abv. And now a Fort Worth brewery has done that, an imperial bock the label says. Cool. This skinny 12 oz can was found at the nearby HEB in their singles display, a pleasant surprise. I have a tulip glass out this evening, I tilt the can for a pour. A glossy, medium brown body, sort of hazy and little more than a silvery tan ring around the glass. I smell the usual bock scent, grain, malt and toasted bread. The taste may be similar to previous bocks I have sampled with plenty of grain, sorghum, scorched wheat bread, malt and caramel. Actually it is better than average for the style. And I do think there is more substance to this one. More booziness? We shall see at the finish. But before then, I will say this is a tasty bock.
