04/01/2013. OLD RED COW, 71-72 Long Lane, LONDON, EC1, England. Delicious. Can't believe it's only 4.5%! And it's got a feather on it....

Bottle from Grumpy Goat, Reading. Aroma combines sweet yet tart berries, coffee and liquorice. Dark and glossy. Creamy beige head recedes. Medium-heavy bitter. Charcoal and liquorice. Tart berries. Underlying malty chocolate. Medium bodied. Slick. Average-fizzy carbonation. Long dry astringent finish. More interesting and packing more of a punch than I expected.

7/3/2020. Bottle at my Birthday bottle share, bought at Three Trees Farm Shop, Chiseldon. Pours very dark ruby brown with a small frothy off-white to beige head. Aroma of liquorice, ash, tar, roasted malt, dark fruits, chocolate and toffee. Medium sweetness and moderate roasted bitterness. Medium body, slight creamy texture, average to soft carbonation. Best I've had from this brewery.

Third, gravicask, shared with Finn at Twickenham Beer and Cider Festival. Patchy surface, filmy layer, coal black in the glass. Promising dark malty nose, hints of liquorice. The taste profile has got moments of liquorice and chocolate malts. Smoothly roasted ending. Pretty alright.(24.10.2019).

50cl bottle from Grumpy Goat, Reading. A peaty brown pour with a thin cream head and an attractive ruby red glint; aroma of demerara sugar; dry caramel taste with a touch of chocolate; and a light bitterness leading to a chocolate caramel finish. A pleasant stout.
