My first tasting out of a delivery from the Struise Beershop. The shipment took a very long time to arrive but I appreciate the shop’s perseverance in seeing the deal completed. 33 cl bottle of a barrel-aged tripel, what is there to not like here? The cap is lifted and I’m pouring into a snifter to determine a medium gold body with a head of a more-tan-than-white foam that is consistently replenished. I smell fruit, yeast and perhaps a whiff of alcohol. A taste ultimately, ah, worth the wait. Not-overly-sweet nectarines, white bread, yeast, malt, oak and a whisky presence. The brew has a fullness to it. Overall, a nice tripel.
