Draft 10 oz pkur at Cairn. This base beer is a standout brown for me, which is rare for me to find within the style, so I was happy to see they threw it in a barrel with staves and such. Makes this even more unique. Some roasted malt front on the flavor. Toast linger. Some cool bourbon, and long lasting oak. Pretty much on par with the expectations I had with this, looking back at my notes on the regular version. Aroma is a blend of dough malts, caramel, wood, whiskey, and a sweet touch. I dont know if its the whiskey barrel, but I get a soft green apple like impression with this, that I can't decide if I'm into or not. High carb on this pour. A unique and flavorful brown. I think I prefer the regular version, but this was an interesting try to say the least.
