22 oz. bottle from Jonathan. Pours dark brown with an amber tint. The head is large, tan, and leaves lots of lacing. The aroma is coffee, milk chocolate, caramel, a little soy sauce, and some mild esters. The flavor is sweet, with a big roasted bitterness/spiciness. The palate is medium, chalky, and a little syrupy. Overall, this is a delicious, great feeling beer. Nicely done.

Deep rich dark brown coloured body with a large, tan head that fades very quickly. Aroma of roasted malt, metal, cereal, cola and a lot of raisins. Medium-bodied; Assertive roasted malt and nut flavours with a lot of raisins, metal and a touch of coffee thrown in. Aftertaste shows pecans and hazelnuts, a decent amount of grapes and raisins and a lot of bitter malt showing through with a good complexity. Overall, a very nice brown with good nuttiness a pleasant sweetness and a very good complexity. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Opera House Gourmet in Manassas, Virginia on 12-March-2011 sampled at home in Washington in celebration on the murder of Osama Bin Laden on 01-May-2011.

Thanks to beerbill for sharing - this is a decent, albeit rather bland brown ale - light tobacco bitterness counters maple sweetness and a mild nutty character - a little bit of leafy quality - my notes ramble on at this point about the mediocrity of the brew - meh.

on cask-pours a rich thin tan head with trailing lace and dark brown color. Aroma is chocolate-dark malt. Taste is chocolate-dark malt, peat/roasty, faint hops.

Bottle. Pours dark, dark brown. Near black. Rich, foamy head. Very malty aroma, full of raisins and other dark fruits. Taste is smooth, and sweet, with just a hint of bitterness. Very well balanced.

22 oz bottle. Brown pour with a small white head. Aroma is chocolates, caramel. Flavor is creamy and smooth caramels and a slight hint of chocolates. A little thinner than I would have liked but a very decent local brown ale overall.

Chocolate, caramel, and raisin bouquet, of decent strength. Mahogany color, thin tan head, nice lacing. Dry charred oak taste with a short sour kiss at midpalate. Lemon grass and coffee taste lingers for a good while, perhaps too long. It doesn’t warm particularly well.

Dark brown body with a medium creamy tan head. Sweet nutty aroma with some light roasted malt. Sweet nutty flavor, a gentle roasted malt background and a bit of caramel.
