Nice deep copper coloured body with a perfect sized dense slightly-off white head. Perfect look! Aroma of nice piney hops with a good spruce scent and a long-lasting caramely maltness that lasts throughout the scent. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong sweetness up front with much more malt than hops and a good dose of spice. Aftertaste shows even more sweetness - caramel, toffee and even more caster sugar. Overall, a nice winter offering - each of the Winter Brews are good to try. A bit lacking in the hops, but the malt and sugars help this one out. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle given to me from my friend Phil (haddon90) on 24-February-2006.

Bottle (brew date 11/11/05): Pours a murky copper/orange color with a thick beige head. Nose is decidedly sweet, with caramel, citrus hops, and toffee. A very wet mouthful with citrus notes, caramel, more sugary sweetness, and a hops bitter tail. There is something of a candylike feel to this ale; I know what you’re thinking and no it’s not like Skittlebrau. A lingering sugar holds on after the hops in the tail. Very different and very tasty. Could it have something to do with the age of this? I don’t know, but I’d certainly have another.

Paid $1.40 for a 12-oz single at Wine Warehouse, Charlottesville, VA. Pours a very pretty dark amber with an inch of head. Bittersweet cascade hops in the nose, with hints of grapefruit, pine, and other luscious citrus. Tasty! Light malt, which is perfect for an IPA starts it off, followed by a piney grapefruitiness. Finishes with a bit of an orange flavor mixed with a pleanant caramel, with plenty of bitterness at the end. This is outstanding... they have to make this a regular issue or they’d be doing us all a disservice. Reminds me a bit of Sierra Nevada Celebration, which I happen to love... though I think I like this one better

bottle. Clear brownish color. Reminds me of other IPA flavors. Grapefruit, citrus flavor. A little hop flavor, and some small malty sweetness.
