Bottle from the winter variety pack. Copper in color, small whiteish head. Some nutty maltiness in the nose, and a similar taste. Plain, but stable. Drinkable, not great. Not gonna seek it out, but not gonna refuse a free one.

A deceent brown ale. Orangey brown color, fair head. Slightly nutty caramel aroma with a touch of citric hops. Clean caramel malt flavor, easy finish, no bittering hops to speak of. Certainly boring, but with enough flavor to be acceptable. Slick mouthfeel.

12oz bottle-pours a light tan/offwhite head. Color is amber/brown. Aroma is malty, roasty then a bit of hops. Taste is malt, then some bitter shows up, but overall-smooth, a good beer and refreshing.

Bottle. Winter 12 pack. Good beverage, even if it is average. brownish color, no lasting head, fruity flavor and deffinately a nutty flavor to boot.

'Season's Best 2003' on the label. Amber colour with strong ruby highilghits and a dense tan head. The beer actually looks nice! Aroma of spices, nuts, malt and during the pour, a hoppiness which supercedes the Pale Ale! After settling, malt is the primary characteristic of the aroma. Light to Medium-bodied; Subtle maltiness and noticeable hops mellow down to just about nothing. Typical of Saranac beers, this one is a bit watery, but to be perfectly honest, while fresh this one has more hop kick than nuttiness. Aftertaste shows plain hops, no mal t nor nuttiness. Overall, this is more of a 'light' APA than a nut-brown, but I guess if it were to age it would be a brown. Regardless, i'm not trying this again, and I will continue my dislike for Saranac beers. I bought this twelve ounce bottle at Beers of the World in Rochester, New York.
