I don’t think I’ve ever seen a stout with this modest of an abv get aged in a barrel, but i won’t judge. A pleasant surprise on a brew crawl. BBA session stout in. Imperials, out! Oily black pour, glossy, with an active cola fizz head. Doughy malts, and smooth bourbon, matching in aroma and flavor. A little on the sweet side. Thick, chocolate, and quite generous with the bourbon. Remains without a dominant boozy character. This all seemed to work here. Flavorful, and quite enjoyable.
