This NW style sour blends soured tripel, blonde and golden ales that were then fermented with the juice of white wine grapes. It's a delicious offering that appeals to both beer and wine drinkers.

2012 Vintage - 8.85% ABV at Cascade Barrel House, PDX, 22/05/13. Very lightly hazed blonde with a thin white head. Nose is sour grapes, musty, MkI rad piss, woody tones, lactose. Taste comprises tarte citrus notes, light vinegar, lemon rind, soured apple skin, musty damp bark, soured pears, subtle burnt notes. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation. Decent enough sour but not a show stopper for me.

Purchased online from Casdade. Enjoyed in a wine glass at 60F

A - Gorgeous golden orange, nice fizzy head that fades to a small head

S - Smells just like childhood. Seriously, I grew up in Alabama and used to pick muscadines from alongside the trails behind my house. I’d eat more than I picked. Reminds me of that perfectly.

T - Wow...and tastes like muscadines. It has that mustiness, tart and high tannic almost mouth numbing texture. If you put a muscadine in the side of your cheek, it makes it numb...reminds me exactly like that. not too sour, not too sweet. Pretty remarkable. I want more!!!

M - Big mouthfeel on the swish, huge carbonation. nice tart sweet finish.

O - This is a fantastic beer. I must order more of this.

Sample at the Barrel House. Slightly hazed honey-gold color with a thin white head that recedes steadily. Spotty lacing. Vinous aroma with notes of apples and oak. Medium body with flavors of tart funky fruit, oak and earthy yeast. The finish is fruity with a spice and white wine aftertaste. Pretty good all around.

Bottle @ Brent’s house. 2011 vintage. Pours a rich hazy, golden appearance with a white head. White grape, apricot, light vanilla, a bit oaky, peach aroma. Tangy, Smartees, peach, apricot, lightly tart, fresh, super easy drinking flavor with a bit of lactic on the finish. Really nice.

750 ml bottle, 2011 Project. Pours clear golden with a large off-white head that crackles down to a finger-width fairly quick; leaves some lace. Aroma is oaky, vanilla, white wine, cotton candy, vinegar, lemon peel--not as aromatic (by this I mean funky) as the best examples of the style. Taste is nice, sour, vinous and acidic with some sugary sweetness lurking in the background. Really good and different.

Tap at the Barrel House - moderately hazy gold - thick lace of tight bubbles - nose of white wine, oak, vanilla, grape skins, apple - medium dry, with strong but not overpowering white wine and oak tannins - medium-low acidity - grape skin and dry apple cider - dry, oaky finish, with some touches of vanilla far in the back - well-done.

On tap at Cascade Tasting Room, split with Matts_Property, pours a clear blonde with a white head. Aroma of white wine, grapes and some tartness. Flavour of white wine, lots of grapes and medium tartness that lingers. Nice depth and I like the grapes being most pronounced.

Bottle: Poured cloudy muddy light brown color ale with a small bubbly head with no retention. Aroma of funky barnyard notes with some tart notes with some vile unrefined grainy notes. Taste is also quite a mess with loads of harsh grainy notes with some vile barnyard notes. Body is full with no carbonation. Either this bottle was off or I clearly don’t get this beer.

2010 version: A golden ale with a thin white head. In aroma, light horseblanket, white wine, perfumey and nice. In mouth, a smooth lactic sour chery taste, refreshing and smooth, a bit of white grapeskin, quite nice. On tap at brewpub July 31 2011.
