This flavoursome black bitter from the heart of Wales delights with its roasted malt flavours and the added intriguing hint of chocolate and liquorice. There is a lot of taste that comes out of the beer yet it still finds itself silky smooth and balanced.

Live rating: Cask at the Kingston Arms, Cambridge on 6th September 2012. Deep brown with thin layer of off-white foam. Sweetish pungent aroma. This belies a fruity in-mouth flavour with berries to the fore, before a late hoppy trend which develops into a fairly bitter, grassy finish. Chocolate backdrop to it all. Slightly flat-feeling in the mouth, touch of oiliness. Interesting beer.

500ml bottle thanks to Chris Excell. Very dark brown lasting dark beige head. Roasted malt aroma. Full of dark bitter goodness in the mouth. Not too tarry or sweet malty on the finish. Extremely well balanced dark bitter. Yes very drinkable and I like the milk choc and bitterness on the finish. Good beer.
