Deep dark brown coloured body with three to four centimetre tall rich brown head that stays afloat for a long time and leaves a thin lace after a few minutes. Aroma of roasted malt, oats, nuts, grain, raisins, caramelised sugars and a touch of vanilla, even, but the malts are the strongest. Medium-bodied; Rich nutty and earthy flavours show at first with a pleasant coffee and bitter chocolate note right behind that brings out some subtle complexities with bunch of caramelised sugars and sweetness that finish this off with a lot of rustic touches. Aftertaste shows more of the sugars and even pitted fruits than the malts, with a pleasant sweetness and some smooth lactose, cream and vanilla at the end than the bitterness that was seen earlier. Overall, a pretty nice and rich beer that has a wide range of flavours that come out at various times, and while this isn't potent or super sweet, it hits the nice notes that I expected throughout. Great to sample here after bringing it back from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan last year! I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Super One Foods in Marquette, Michigan on 05-August-2021 for US$1,87 sampled while hiking Shenandoah National Park on 09-July-2022.

Can. Pours a clear dark brown with a light brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has dark grains and chocolate supported by roasted malts and a hint of smoke. Flavor starts with dark grains and chocolate but has growing roasted malts and a bit of smokiness underlying.
