Special. Part of the 2012 "12 Stouts of Christmas" range.
A wonderful blend of berry fruit and liquorice to work alongside the roasted malt flavours from the stout. Dangerously drinkable and a great drink to accompany a range of sweet desserts.

Bottle at ChrisO Snow tasting. It pours near black with a small light tan head. The nose is roasted malt, earth, liquorice and faint berry. The taste is earth, roasted malt, metal, mild liquorice, earth, dark fruit and fruit cake with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate-high carbonation. Good flavour and well balanced.

Bottle at home, BBF online 12SOC, 18/01/13. Very dark mahogony brown with a thin tan head that clears to the edge and leaves a swirl of filmage. Nose is roast malts, dark fruits, liqourice, berry fruit - not necessarily picking blackcurrants out here, sugars. Taste comprises blackcurrant, roast malt, liqourice - doing what it says on the tin! Medium bodied, carbonation was a little over sprtized initially but I supped this over time and it flattened out so upped from a 3 to 4, dry finish. Decent enough stout.

Bottle as part of the 12 stouts of Christmas. Near black with a small but tight, off-white head. Aroma of bitter chocolate, liquorice and roasted malts. Flavour had more chocolate, some tart blackcurrants and a hint of spice, leading to a dry finish. Very good.

Bottled (from Ales By Mail). More or less pitch black colour, small brown head. Aroma is mild liquorice, some berries, slight not too roasted coffeeish notes. Flavour is liquorice, mild blackcurrant (and slightly other berries as well) along with some toffee, mild roasted malts and some slight chocolaty notes. Quite solid, but a bit thin palate.

Palate - Soft to medium carb, light to medium body, smooth. Finish as main flavour, some dry roast
Overall - Mellow stout, easy drinking, subtle flavours
