Roken is a Scanian smoked beer brewed with smoked whiskey malt. Fermentation takes place with a mixture of various yeast strains, including the genus Brettanomyces. The beer is carbonated naturally by fermentation in the bottle and will therefore give a thin layer of yeast on the bottom.

Bottle 330ml.Light unclear medium yellow colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, barnyard, wood, smoke, peat. Flavour is moderate to light light heavy sweet with a long duration, smoke, manure, peat, dry. IMO. quit weird and odd. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20130222]

Ett väldigt gott rököl. Smak och doft av rök, läder, järnvägsslipers, tjära, whiskytoner och en aning karamell. Lagom söt och med en snäll beska. Brekeriet = ett väldigt spännande bryggeri.

Hazy golden color with generous head. Very peculiar aroma, a lot of peat, some landjäger sausage, burnt paper too, petrol. Dry mouthfeel; unfortunately the burnt paper feeling overwhelms the peat; there is also some sourness from these malts, and a lot of chemicals and phenol. Too much bitterness.
Really weird.

Bottle. Hazy yellow cololur with a small white head. Smokey aroma. Flavour is rather sweet, smokey. Not to my liking.

Bottle. Pours orange, semi hazy, with a white head. Smokes dominates the aroma, but it’s also quite sweet and flowery. Taste starts crisp and fresh and ends with a long smokeiness. Notes of sausage, sauna and herbs.

33 cl bottle from Systembolaget, order local beers by the bottle. Sampled on December 23, 2012. BB 2014-10-18.Hazy amber color, big fizzy white head. Potent, intense, smoke, peat, camp fire scent. Sweet, smoke, dry taste. Smoke and alcohol aftertaste. Medium to smooth mouthfeel, medium dry bitterness.

Bottle at Chriso tasting, thanks to Anders37, 18/11/12. Pale blonde with a thin white head that soon clears to the edge and forms a pond. Nose comprises TCP, smoke, plastic, antisceptics, gammon - but combing together in a good way ! Tastes of smoke, wheat, burnt tones, TCP, medicinal. Medium bodied with soft spritzy carbonation leading to a smoked finish.

Flaska från SB. Ett märkligt öl. Mörks gyllenfärgad, dimmig vätska, ljust skum. Stor doft av söt rökig whiskey, läder och en syrlig stalldoft. Smaken är först som att dra in röken från en cigarr, sedan maltsöt karamell, läder, syra, träig beska med en lite kärv rökig eftersmak. Ett unikt öl av ett nytt bryggeri som jag ser fram emot att dricka mycket av i framtiden.

Bottle at Chriso Tasting, London. Pours foggy yellow with a fine, white foam head. Very smokey aroma, some minerals. Light to medium sweet flavor with strong smoke, faint fruits, light white bread pale malts. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Moderately sweet finish with big smoke and fresh, pale bread. Nice rauch.
