Maple Bourbon Breakfast Stout
Roxanne can turn the crack of dawn into something to look forward to. Before her kids come barreling downstairs, she's made the most of the early stillness, reading a few chapters while savouring a peaceful coffee. She gets you out of bed to hike the old-growth forests she's protecting and whips up magical pancakes as a reward for catching the first light with her. This big stout has all the making of a hearty brewers breakfast - rich coffee flavours of Smoking Gun coffee, Emkao Foods dark chocolate, topped with maple syrup. The velvet texture from the oats, is enhanced with hints of bourbon and vanilla, pulled from the oak chips that it was matured on. A delightful and satisfying drinking experience that goes perfectly with an evening by the fire.
Malt: Simp-Maris Otter, OiO-Rolled Oats, Crisp-Pale Chocolate, WY-Carafa Special II, Simp-Roasted Barley, Simp-DRC, WY-Chocolate Rye
Hops: Bitter Gold, Willamette, Fuggle

Poured from 473mL can (pkg 01/12/2023). Very dark brown with dissipating beige head. Very ashy, mild coffee, feint maple and chocolate. Weird wood quality. Okay, but just tastes like lower quality ingredients overall.

473 ml can. Pours a dark brown with moderate tan head. Aromas of cigarette ash, nutty dark chocolate, burnt coffee, and dry roasted malts. Flavors of acidic black coffee, ash, plastic, sweeten dark chocolate, and watery roasted malts. Incoherent. Needs a bigger malt base and obviously some maple and bourbon presence.
