Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark caramel color with a medium sized foamy orange-white head that lingered and left some lacing. The aroma was sweetish, tangy and sour caramel, nut, vague fruits and was a bit vegetal. The flavor was sour caramel and light butterscotch with faint vague fruits, burnt toffee and vegetal malts - almost bock like in character. The finish was long tangy caramel and vegetal malts. Smooth and fairly full bodied. Ok.

Bomber from Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville, VA, opened 6/28/11. Pours a hazy copper color with a large creamy tan head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of earthy, toffeeish malts. Some earthy and citrus hops and a bit of caramel. The taste is toffee, earthy notes, caramel and a bitter hop finish. Medium bodied. Fairly refreshing. Nice beer.

Caramel nose. Tea colored, medium yellow head, good lacing. Surprisingly creamy mouthfeel.. A swirling current of different cherry flavors, some sweet, some tart. Grass and honey notes also come and go. Vanilla finish. Not outrageously hoppy, which I like in imperial reds. This one is actually very good because of the malt. Impressive.

Pours clear garnet into a snifter. Off-white head with medium retention recedes to nothing. Biscuit and caramel aromas. Thin bittersweet dried pit fruit turning to a mild grapefruit and resin finish.

Tap at Churchkey. Oh... the name makes sense now that I’ve seen the label. Poured a clear copper color with a small off-white head. Aroma was sweet, candy caramels, touch of dried fruits. Flavor was pretty on key with aroma, sweetness, touch of alcohol. Pretty solid for a red ale.
